An orientation session on Civil Services was conducted for the students of Classes VIII and IX on 28th July 2025 by the Kerala State Civil Service Academy as a part of the initiative Pinnacle - Elevate Through Education. The programme aimed to introduce students to the concept and structure of the Indian Civil Services and inspire them to explore career opportunities in public service. The session commenced with a prayer by Ummu Salma of Class VIII, followed by a warm welcome by Aysha Shabeer of Class IX. The main focus of the session was to provide an informative and engaging introduction to the Civil Services and the UPSC examination. The session effectively kindled curiosity among young students regarding prestigious careers in government administration. Key Points Covered: 1. Introduction to Civil Services: * An overview of Civil Services and their role in the governance of India. * Students were introduced to the 21 services under the Civil Services Examination. 2. Some Key Services: * IAS - Indian Administrative Service: The administrative backbone of India. * IPS - Indian Police Service. * IFS - Indian Foreign Service. *3. Structure of the UPSC Civil Services Examination: * Preliminary Examination 5. Role of UPSC: Students learned the full form - Union Public Service Commission - the central agency that conducts the Civil Services Examination The session was highly effective and age-appropriate for middle school students. It was structured in a simple, interactive manner that made complex ideas accessible and engaging. The initiative successfully laid the groundwork for students to consider the Civil Services as a potential and prestigious career option in the future. The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Haniya Mariyam of Class IX.
